Babar Azam First To Complete 3000 Runs In PSL’s History
LAHORE: (Web Desk) Pakistan’s right-handed batter Babar Azam made a record after becoming the first batter in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to complete 3000 runs.
The batsman achieved the feat while playing for Peshawar Zalmi in their match against Rilee Rossouw’s Quetta Gladiatiors on Sunday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Babar needed 65 runs to achieve the landmark, and he got there after the Zalmi were asked to chase down a target of 207. Along with Babar, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan are the ones who have scored over 2000 runs in the PSL.
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Rizwan went past the 2000-run mark in Multan Sultans’ match against Karachi Kings on Sunday.
However, his record could lead his team to victory as in the second match of Pakistan Super League Season 9 as Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi started chasing the target in a confident manner. Babar Azam and Saeem Ayub jointly brought the score to 91 runs. But Saeem Ayub was run out after scoring 42 runs, after which Peshawar Zalmi’s score was broken while wickets began to fall.
None of the middle and lower order could play well, captain Babar Azam scored 68 runs off 42 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 4 fours, but he failed to bring victory to his team and was dismissed without finishing the match.
